Hola from Quemado, New Mexico. Today we rode from Springerville and crossed into our second state. In case you aren’t familiar with the state, I can tell you what I have learned thus far: New Mexicans don’t speak New Spanish (or Old Spanish for that matter). We were supposed to be rained on (for the third day in a row) but avoided it yet again. If this trip has taught me anything it is that iPhone’s have no capability in predicting the weather.

While the rides have been great, we haven’t encountered a tremendous amount of people. Since we left Payson, we have essentially been going from one clone of Radiator Springs (see Disney-Pixar’s Cars) to the next one. I may be the first person to say this but, I can’t wait to get to Albuquerque since human life exists there. Despite not meeting that many people over the past couple of days, everyone who has asked us about our trip has continued to be receptive.

Due to the lack of excitement today there honestly isn’t that much to tell. Rather than type a short post however, I will subject everyone reading to some randomness…

Quemado means “burned” in Spanish. There are around 120,000 people that are currently in need of a lifesaving organ. Max’s bike chain falls off a lot. Cycling shorts are pretty much Under Armour spandex with a giant Maxi Pad in them to cushion your butt. My parents will probably be embarrassed that I am their offspring after seeing that last sentence. We are well on our way to having the world’s greatest farmer’s tan. The first successful kidney transplant occurred in 1950. Max and I saw a dead badger on the side of the road the other day and ASU plays Wisconsin tomorrow. We’ve biked 243 miles. It’s time for bed.

I’m sorry that people are so jealous of me, but I can’t help it that I’m so popular
